Gorgeous English Country House – Castle Homes’ Parade House

October 17, 2017 By Nancy McNulty Leave a Comment

Using historical inspiration with a fresh modern day approach, Southern Living custom builder Castle Homes has created a Contemporary English Country house for the Nashville Parade of Homes open daily for tour through October 22.

Southern Living Idea House

Castle Homes, Southern Living Custom Builder of the Year, was selected to build the Idea House at Fontanel in 2013.

You’ll remember Castle Home’s work from the 2013 Southern Living Idea House at Fontanel with interiors by Phoebe Howard and Forest Home Media serving as a member of the PR team headed up by PR pro Jennifer Zawadzinski.

Castle Homes was selected for the national build after earning Southern Living magazine’s 2012 Custom Builder of the Year.

Inspired By 20th Century British Architect

Castle Homes is participating in the premier Nashville home tour unveiling a home inspired by noted 1900s British architect Sir Edwin Lutyens, designed in collaboration with local architect C. Kevin Coffey, with interior design by Castle’s in-house designers and interior styling by Rozanne Jackson Interiors with The Iron Gate furnishings and decor.

“Castle Homes creates houses of architectural integrity by taking historic inspiration with a fresh perspective which you see when you step into the open floor plan home with incredible custom finishes,” Castle Homes President Alan Looney said. “We take very seriously our goal of contributing to the architecture of Middle Tennessee.”

Clever Home Ideas

Rozanne Jackson Interiors of The Iron Gate stunning home ideas include a concrete dining room table with a leather light fixture above, a sofa screen providing definition to the open living room and a divided banquette for a large breakfast area.

Building Inspiration

Castle took the craftsmanship of the home to the next level with a delicate tracery ceiling in the study, custom powder bath vanity and a scalloped hood for a Wolf range which showcases new gold and silver knobs – a departure from the traditional Wolf red.

Don’t Miss Elements

The home has several don’t miss elements including Bunkara day beds in a casual den, a golf simulator where you can play courses around the world and Rasmussen FireBalls, an alternative to traditional gas fireplace logs. The stunning home is complete with a beautiful array of succulents and floral décor created by Nashville designer Tim Riffle, previously featured in Nancy McNulty’s column on The Southern C.

From Celebrating Everything To Succulent Décor – Blog Round Up

September 16, 2017 By Nancy McNulty Leave a Comment

As the cobbler’s children have no shoes, Forest Home Media creates hundreds of blogs for clients and the Southeastern consortium of creatives, The Southern C, and now it’s past time for a Forest Home Media blog wrap up!

Celebrate Everything With Darcy Miller

After spending time with founding editor of Martha Stewart Living Weddings, author and new fun friend Darcy Miller at the Southern C Summit and her Nashville book tour, I treated myself to her incredible book, “Celebrate Everything! Fun Ideas To Bring Your Parties To Life.”

Darcy-Miller

My first thought was to find out what Martha thinks about the book. In her kind forward she shares, “I suggest you use this book for inspiration first, then as instruction….Darcy’s sources are generously shared.” When you are being inspired to take your parties to the next level, how absolutely awesome to have this how-to. Martha was spot on, #obviously.

Darcy-Miller-Celebrate-Everything!-Fun-Ideas-To-Bring-Your-Parties-To-Life

When I’m bored, I plan parties in my head and Darcy has me spinning with ideas to try.   This book could be a little overwhelming if you don’t approach it with the spirit conveyed early by the author. Even if you don’t D-I-Y it, Do-It-Together (D-I-T)! So let’s dig in to just a few of my favorite things. Click here to read more on The Southern C!

Meet RealSimple.com Lifestyle Editor Sarah Yang

As a young girl growing up in sunny Pasadena, California, RealSimple.com Lifestyle Editor Sarah Yang’s middle school aspirations included being a NYC journalist. (Love that focus and determination!) Regular meetings with Sarah is just one of the perks of being a home lifestyle publicist for me. She’s part of an impressive and inspiring field of young, professional women having a huge impact on shelter magazines especially their digital and social media operations. Find out more on what inspires her in this fun Q&A for The Southern C.

Video Marketing

Recently, I had the pleasure of helping new Trading Places designer John Gidding with his first Facebook Live! On this blog for The Southern C, I share “Video Marketing For Your Business: 3 Platforms and How to Use Them.”

Domino Book Review

After working with Domino magazine on a Facebook Live for our March 2017 House for Hope Designer Show House, I also did a book review of“Domino: Your Guide to a Stylish Home” by Domino Editorial Director Jessica Romm Perez and Shanni Silver, Domino’s director of digital content, which was SO helpful during a spring bathroom renovation. Click here for more on the 272-page, beautiful, hardcover book that is so much more than a stylish addition to your coffee table.

Succulent Decor Tips And Upcoming Parade of Homes!

From aesthetic beauty to health benefits, weaving succulents into your home décor can be achieved through several helpful tips from Nashville-based plant and floral rock star designer Tim Riffle, Tim Riffle Environments. Click here for the Southern C blog on “Designer Tim Riffle’s Tips for Using Succulents in Home Décor.” And, I’m super excited Forest Home Media will be working with Tim once again on the English Country home of builder Castle Homes for the October Nashville Parade of Homes. Our Charming Hometown – Franklin, Tennessee

Finally, take a trip to my hometown, Franklin, Tennessee, and a few of my favorite coffee shops, restaurants and places to stay and to shop! Click here for more on The Southern C of my tour of “The Charm Of Historic Franklin, Tennessee.”

Nashville Designer Show House PR

March 6, 2017 By Nancy McNulty

The House for Hope Designer Show House, built by FHM client Carbine & Associates, has officially opened its doors for tour daily through March 12 from noon to 5 p.m. in the new boutique community Southern Preserve in Franklin, Tennessee. Forest Home Media is proud to be the PR company of record for the year’s top home event!

Home Lifestyle Specialist

For over two decades, I’ve had the pleasure of working with talented builders and designers with the goal of inspiring tour visitors and benefiting many worthy causes.  The House for Hope takes all this up 1,000 notches with 15 Southeastern design tastemakers and Carbine dedicating the home sale proceeds to area children’s charities – estimated at $100,000.

House for Hope History

The entire project is a way to honor Carbine & Associates’ 30th anniversary of building. Instead of a big party, however, Carbine’s project will have a huge impact on our community and I can’t be more proud of this company. They have done so much over the years including building an Operation FINALLY HOME for a decorated war veteran in Kings’ Chapel community.  Here’s a video we put together with company president, James Carbine.

Rock Star Design Tastemakers

Dana Tucker, FHM creative consultant who originally co-founded the company, helped assemble the team of design tastemakers from a four state area.  Here is a clever video we put together highlighting the room designers. And, kudos to FHM New Media Manager Geinger Hill, a video and photography wizard!

We work with soooo many great media outlets and bloggers throughout the Southeast. Nationally, the collaboration with Domino was a result of regular PR trips to NYC to build these relationships.  Check out the PR recap I did for my monthly column for The Southern C here, Modern Day PR:  Leveraging Creativity To Ignite Buzz. It is all about this project.

After meeting Domino’s Alyssa Clough in NYC in October 2016, loved getting to host her at the House for Hope Designer Show House.

Domino magazine at House for Hope

Domino’s Associate Social Media Manager Alyssa Clough came down to attend the media blogger preview and first stopped by WTVF’s Talk of the Town.  She then hosted an incredible Facebook Live on Domino’s page previewing the home and meeting several of the talented designers in their rooms.  Check out the tour below which begins with Kristen Carbine.

Before heading to the House for Hope, Domino’s Alyssa Clough joined Talk of the Town’s Meryll Rose for an in-studio segment. Be sure you pick up their spring magazine!

Home Lifestyle Media Or Bloggers

If you are within the Nashville vicinity and want to visit the House for Hope Designer Show House before it closes March 12, just send me an email at nancy@foresthomemedia.com. We have such a terrific Nashville area pool of talented bloggers and media and would love to add to it. And,  I just have to share the gorgeous, latest issue of Greater Nashville House & Home magazine which features the show house’s covered porch by J & K Design Studio.   Forest Home Media is now celebrating its fifth anniversary and this project is just the icing on the cake! Come see us!

You can’t tell from the pic, but it was one of the coldest days of 2017 on this porch!  The current cover, the House for Hope Designer Show House, built by Carbine & Associates, has two porches designed by J & K Design Studio. (Photo by Peyton Hoge)
